Tell me some more:

Burlesque dancing allows you to celebrate your femininity and liberate your inner glamour-puss! During a class you'll learn some mesmerising moves and how to captivate your audience with fabulous costumes and enticing props ranging from feather boas to fans. Nipple tassels are optional!
Burlesque literally means 'to imitate or parody' and it’s never lost touch with its comic roots, which always guarantees plenty of giggles. Performances originally contained a mixture of cabaret, magic and comedy but became associated with seedy strip joints in the 1920’s and so consequently fell out of fashion. However stars such as sexy showgirl Dita von Teese have brought burlesque firmly into the mainstream. With performances these days less about the strip and more about the tease, burlesque dancing has managed to shed its sleazy image.

Is it really for me?

If you’re looking to boost your self confidence in a fun and frivolous setting, or want to learn some seductive moves then burlesque is definitely for you. The classes are just for girls and aren't necessarily to be taken too seriously but more provide an opportunity to do something very different and have a laugh! And of course there's nothing to stop you parading your new moves outside of class as let's face it, this is a girls night out that no man will complain about!
There aren't any complicated steps to learn in burlesque dancing, so it’s easy to keep up with the routines. Burlesque celebrates the female body in all shapes and sizes and so everyone is welcomed. It’s all about building confidence but also a way to escape from everyday life and enjoy the beautiful costumes, saucy shenanigans and lots of glamorous fun. For shoe fetishists out there you will be thrilled to learn that the classes must be done in heels, the higher the better. Meaning your legs and bum should get a good workout. Burlesque also improves posture which helps to tone the tummy, while the heavy fans used give the arms a workout. This class is taught by an international burlesque performer who will soon have you shimmying and spinning your way through your own act with confidence.
