I bet you didn’t know that the idea of New Year’s resolutions has been around since 153BC! What? Yes, I know. The Romans named the first month of the year after the God, Janus, who was the guardian of doors and entrances. The word has now been transformed to become January. Appropriately, Janus could see backwards and forwards as he had two heads that faced opposite directions. At midnight on December 31, the Romans imagined Janus looking back at the old year and forward to the new.
So as well as being somewhat of a tradition, it’s a perfect time to create your own wish list of stuff you want to do and experience. It’s also the best way to start in the right direction towards doing the things you want as productivity experts say that writing a list means you’re more likely to get it done. So get that pen out and start writing!
